In late July I began listing the licensees of the new-station permits. Some of these companies are obviously religious organizations. Lowcountry 34 and HC2 Station Group carry various “subchannel networks”. TV-49 is the company responsible for Me-TV and the subs which appear on the Me-TV full-power stations.

I believe most or all of the new stations in Idaho belong to Idaho Public Television.

TECHNICAL NOTES:

W22FR Janesville & W25GK Madison:

These two stations have been operating since last August as Digital Replacement Translators. (which means, among other things, that their callsigns were the same as those of the primary station, WISC-TV) They are converting to “ordinary” translators; this provides additional programming flexibility. Since the technical parameters haven’t changed, you can assume these stations are already on the air. You’ll probably see their call letters added to some of the WISC-TV ID slides.

WXPX-TV Bradenton:

This STA is to use the backup antenna of co-owned WFTS-TV Tampa until a permanent WXPX antenna can be installed on the WFTS tower.

KUOC-LD Enid;

KZLL-LD Joplin:

These two stations are officially licensed to serve the cities mentioned above, but the transmitter site is on the west side of Tulsa.

K33IW Coaldale;

K35OO Del Norte;

K31IX Salida;

K35OQ San Luis;

K32IK San Luis Valley:

These Colorado translators are off due to loss of power at a microwave relay site feeding the KTSC signals to their sites. Power was interrupted by the Aspen Meadows wildfire near Rye.

Further checking found tower coordinates were wrong. Correct coordinates led to calculation of a higher antenna height, which required a reduction in ERP.

K20PM Tafuna;

This station is in American Samoa, which is south of the equator. All other coordinates in this column are north latitude.

K10SB Forrest City;

K11YF Gaither;

K11YG Russellville;

K08RD Yancy;

These Arkansas PBS licenses replace K10IR, K22JS, K11JW, and K08HQ. The technical facilities are unchanged. The earlier licenses were experimental, issued at a time when the Commission wasn’t accepting applications for new low-power stations.

K10IR spelled Forrest City with only one R. According to the city’s website, K10SB’s two R’s are correct.
