Nov. 13, 2017, 4:05 p.m. Hey Ed, I had a large maple tree removed from my backyard on June 13th. It was only about 15' away from the antenna and was blocking the north. After it was removed, I noticed a huge increase in SNR on a low power local from that direction. From what I read, trees block 90% of UHF signals!! That's 10 dB!! That is huge. Far away trees don't matter as signals diffract around. I'm not sure how much "far away" is though. de Andrew K OH EN91EB

Nov. 7, 2017, 3:24 p.m. Low-VHF DTVs are horrendous. I can't even get 100-mile range low-VHF DTV tropo here, yet analog low-VHF is a cinch. I've seen a few analog low-VHF Canadians over 300 miles. de Andrew K OH EN91EB

Nov. 7, 2017, 2:47 p.m. I'd say 79 kw is a bit much for low-VHF... Rabbit ears indicates an 84 mile contour! Semi-local WBPH-9 is 80 kw, but that's hi-VHF. de dtvdxer NY FN31

Nov. 7, 2017, 1:32 p.m. It's interesting to see what RabbitEars shows for DTVs moving to low-VHF in the repack. Nearly all are requesting power upgrades, non-directional patterns, or even channel changes. WQED, WTLW, and WOUC all want DTV 4 instead of what they were assigned. WOUC and WQED cannot both be on DT 4. WNYB is requesting to be non-directional. de Andrew K OH EN91EB

Nov. 6, 2017, 7:38 p.m. Reading through the city of Norton's zoning code, it doesn't even say anything about tower restrictions except that they need to be capable of supporting a specified wind load.
